This very old china plate has no maker’s mark on the back at all, so I could not, for a long time, find out anything about its history.  Fortunately one of my followers saw the post on Instagram and recognised this as a John Tams piece, in the pattern named 'Mimosa'.

John Tams & Son Ltd, was an earthenware manufacturer at Crown Pottery and the Blyth Works, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. The company began operations in 1875 and continued as a family-owned business until it was floated on the stock exchange as a public company in 1988. 

Unfortunately the plate was in very poor condition, with a good deal of deep crazing and a lot of discolouration. I believe this plate to date from between the very early 1900’s to the 1930's.
