This chunky square brooch, set on the diagonal, has been crafted using miniature glass cubes, organised into a rainbow pattern.

The mosaic of tiny rainbow-coloured glass cubes has been carefully fixed into place using a super-strength, transparent glue, which allows the light to shine through the glass to the shiny silver of the bezel, and then to reflect it right back through the coloured glass, causing the whole ring to sparkle.

The mosaic has then been very carefully grouted, for strength, but pared right back so it does not interfere with the flow of light throughout the jewellery.

As with all Goosehouse Designs jewellery, this unique jewellery is individually handcrafted by me in my studio. Many of the tesserae are made from recycled glass or upcycled china or ceramic. It is the perfect romantic gift for wedding anniversaries, birthdays, Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day and any time you want to show your love through a treasured piece of artisan jewellery.

Your Goosehouse Designs jewellery will be sent to you carefully wrapped and packaged using recycled and recyclable materials. I am committed, at all times, to operating my business in every way I can to be kinder and gentler to the planet.

  • The Goosehouse Designs mosaic jewellery collection has been carefully crafted using a variety of materials, such as miniature glass cubes, vintage china, glass rod, min ceramic tile, mirror, glass tiles, smalti, stained glass, and millefiori, the beautiful Italian 'glass of a million flowers', all bedded into .925 sterling silver.

I assemble the pieces, shape them if I need, and then glue and grout them firmly into place in the bezel.

The mosaic pieces, or tesserae, are all waterproof. The grout is similar to the grout used in wet spaces within your house. So the jewellery should be very hardy. That being said, it is still good practice to remove your jewellery before swimming or showering, or before any rough activity, just in case. If the mosaic gets dusty or dirty, a wash under a gentle tap, or even just a wipe with a damp cloth, should be sufficient to get it sparkling again.

The sterling silver ring and earring hooks are easily adjustable, but care must be taken not to bend them too quickly or too sharply. As with all metals, if they are worked roughly they may break.
The sterling silver bezel will enjoy a regular simple polish with a quality silver cloth. If you do use silver polish, do not get it on the mosaic tesserae, nor on the grout. Do not use strong chemicals on your jewellery.
