Talavera tiles are hand-painted ceramic tiles originating in Talavera de la Reina in central Spain. When the Spanish settlers and artisans arrived in Mexico, they bought the knowledge and traditions of European ceramics with them. This influence merged with the local pottery traditions, and Mexican Talavera was created.

Talavera tiles are now primarily made in Pueblo, Mexico. Much of this original pottery was decorated only in blue, but colors such as yellow, black, green, orange became more common. The tiles are crafted and painted by hand.

These earrings are crafted from a handprinted Talavera Mexican ceramic tile made by a mosaics supplier in Australia. The tile was 5mm x 5mm and handprinted with this gloriously flamboyant pattern in blues.

This tile was manufactured around 2020.
